This Mercruiser replacement engine directly replaces all 3.0L engines 1984 and newer. Prewired for the Mercruiser harness and with the mercruiser style exhaust, bell housing and coupling all you need to do is drop it in hookup water and fuel lines and align the motor and you are ready to go! Optional power steering pump and fresh water cooling options are available.
If you have one built prior to 1984 then you can still use this engine but you will need to change the flywheel, coupling, Exhaust Riser and re-use your old bell housing. The older Mercruiser engines have used a 12 inch center to center rear mounting bolt pattern whereas the newer engines use a 9.5 inch on center mount. If you are unsure measure the mounting bolt centers.
The 3.0L engine has been around since the early 1970's and is probably one of the most popular marine engines produced. Because it doesn't have an automotive equivalent it makes it hard to find these motors in rebuildable condition, so brand new is the only way to go.
